When you reserve a table at a bar, do you pay the tab, or can other people that sit there do it too?
We want to go to a bar after our wedding reception, and think we should reserve a table. Are we obligated to pick up the tab? This is after our reception is over!
You have two choices: You pay (comes out of your budget) or everyone else takes turns.
It does not matter what you choose. What matters is that you make it clear beforehand to avoid awkward situations.
Everything is fine with all people. If they know they have to take their turn, they can decide not to join you.
It only gets awkward when expectations are not met.
So for example: communicate to the people, either on your card, or by your Master Of Ceremonies, that anyone who whishes can join you to go to this pub, and that the first round is on the happy couple.
Generous, and clear.
