What are some good, liberal, punk rock songs?
About opposing war, religion, corruption in the media, PNAC, etc.
I've been listening to Anti-Flag a lot lately.
I also really like the Dead Kennedys but I'm not TOO familiar with them yet.
Please know what you are talking about,
and don't suggest any bands like "Escape The Fate" or "Bullet For My Valentine."
A couple good answers so far. My status doesn't allow me to vote for them yet, so I thought I might as well chime in with my 2 cents worth.
For politically motivated punk that combines intelligent lyrics with great songwriting, the two at the top of my list would definitely be Propagandhi and the Dead Kennedys. There are many other individual songs that stand out, I'll try to list a few of my faves off the top of my head.
Propagandhi - The entire 'How to Clean Everything' Album
D.O.A.- 'World War 3'
Minor Threat- 'Filler'
Stiff Little Fingers- 'Suspect Device'
Screeching Weasel- 'The Science of Myth'
Dead Kennedys- 'Stars and Stripes of Corruption' , 'Holiday In Cambodia'
NOFX- 'Murder the Government'
Subhumans (Canada)- 'Firing Squad'
I could go on and on, but that's a good start.
