Can you be refused service in a Spanish bar to order a soft drink?
Is it legal for bars in Spain to refuse to serve the punters if they order a non-alcoholic drink and try to force them to drink alcohol instead? I spent a control bar (an Irish one, as it happens) for an alcoholic beverage and an orange juice, and was refused service because of the orange juice. I was told it was "illegal in this bar selling soft drinks" (which I know is a load of nonsense), and was repeatedly said that I 'had' to include alcohol in orange juice. That lasted a few minutes with me reiterate that the orange juice was to have nothing in it. Finally, I was given two, but the bartender said he was "not happy" with this, and he was going to pay for liquor only as the orange juice was "pathetic". A few minutes after I had sat down, he arrived at our table, shoved his face right in mine and said that drinking orange juice would be banned from the bar.
If you Please ladies and gentlemen, we can keep the issue in hand? In a typical Spanish bar you will not be refused service if you order a non alcoholic drink. From a perspective detail of the mark on an orange juice is better than the "non cerveza." However, as in any bar owner may refuse your service first by denying you admission he or she does not give the reasons why they will not serve your scenario you.In the bartender can legally ban all drinking orange juice just as easily as it can prohibit smoking if a ban on the sex, race, disability etc. religion, then it may be have a break discrimination "law.I lived and worked in Spain for many years and have never had any problems when I only ordered a soft drink, in fact, some bars make a nice espresso or hot chocolate.
